The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a couple people make a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
